Acid Circulating Vertical Chemical Pumps are intended for the recycling, circulation, treatment, and filtration of corrosive liquids (including those containing particles) that tend to foul and are stored in constant-level tanks.
The Polypropylene Vertical Acid and Chemical Submersible Pump series is built at standard lengths, with no intermediate bearings, guide bushings, or mechanical seals to eliminate any sliding components. This mechanically and hydraulically sophisticated design enables the use of PP vertical pumps in applications where abrasion (due to crystallisation or calcareous deposits) combined with the chemical aggressiveness of the liquid necessitates a more incisive solution than standard vertical pumps.

• The symmetric structure assures a uniform distribution of the flow stream and velocity in the discharge pipe. This avoids local corrosion and allows for simpler monitoring of acid vertical pump conditions. Discharging through a suspension column without a discharge branch prevents differential thermal expansion. There is only one acid/gas interaction in the discharge column rather than four (two on the support column, one on the shaft and one on the discharge pipe) greatly lowers corrosion in acid and chemical vertical pumps.
Hydrochloric acid, sulphuric, and nitric acid are the most significant industrial chemicals. Vertical circulation pumps are used in the contact process to pump very corrosive, high-temperature, and high-concentration acid in drying towers, absorption towers, and heat recovery systems. Vertical pumps are often mounted at the top of a tank to ensure safe operation. In this example, the design included a vertically mounted end suction pump with the volute casing mounted on a suspension column and a separate discharge pipe.
